Privacy policy

Last updated 16 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data UK Driving Theory collects on driving.uk.com and in its practice app, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are.

Who we are

UK Driving Theory is run by Inadram LTD, 483 Green Lanes, London, England. Inadram LTD is responsible for your personal data. For any question or request about your data, email [email protected].

What we collect and why

Signing in with Google

  • What: Your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID.
  • Why: To sign you in to the practice app.
  • Where it goes: Google Firebase, Google's sign-in service. A copy stays in your browser.

Your practice progress

  • What: Your answers, scores, mock test and hazard perception results, streaks, bookmarks and settings.
  • Why: So you can see your progress and carry on where you left off.
  • Where it goes: Your own Google Drive, in a folder called DrivingTheoryTest and a Google Sheet called driving-uk-com. The app can only see the files it creates. We do not keep a copy. A copy also stays in your browser.

Reporting a question

  • What: Your email address, name and Google account ID, the question, your reason and the time.
  • Why: To check and fix questions that are wrong or unclear.
  • Where it goes: Our GitLab project, where we keep the reports, and an email to us through Resend, an email service.

The AI coach

  • What: The question you type (up to 1,000 characters), the practice question and the answer you chose. We do not send your name or email address.
  • Why: To answer your question.
  • Where it goes: Cloudflare Workers AI, which runs Meta Llama models. Please do not type personal details into the coach.

How visitors use driving.uk.com and the practice app

  • What: Only if you accept analytics cookies: clicks, scrolling, page views and details about your device and browser.
  • Why: To see which pages and screens help and which confuse people, so we can improve them.
  • Where it goes: Microsoft Clarity, a website analytics service, which sets cookies on your device.

Email updates and PDF guides

  • What: Your email address, the guide you asked for, the page you were on, and whether you agreed to promotion emails.
  • Why: To send you the guide and, if you agreed, our updates.
  • Where it goes: Mailchimp, an email service. Every email has a link to stop them.

Loading pages, questions and videos

  • What: Your IP address and browser details, which every website receives.
  • Why: To send you the pages, and to stop anyone using the AI coach more than 30 times a minute or 600 times an hour.
  • Where it goes: Cloudflare, which hosts both sites, and GitLab and media.driving.uk.com, which serve the questions and videos. For the AI coach limit we keep only a shortened, scrambled copy of your IP address.

Cookies and browser storage

  • On driving.uk.com, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Only if you accept, Microsoft Clarity sets its cookies (_clck and _clsk) to measure visits. We keep your answer in a cookie called clarity-consent: a yes for a year, a no for 30 days. Cookie settings at the bottom of every page lets you change it.
  • The app keeps your sign-in, a copy of your progress, your settings and your AI chats in your browser, so it works quickly and offline. Clear device data in the app removes all of it.
  • The app's cookie banner asks whether we may measure visits and show ads. Only if you accept, Microsoft Clarity sets its cookies (_clck and _clsk). Ads are not running today; if we start them, Google will set ad cookies only if you accept. Your choice is kept in your browser, and Cookie settings in the app's footer lets you change it.
  • The site remembers whether you chose the dark or light theme, in your browser.

Who we share it with

Only the services named above: Google (sign-in and Drive), Cloudflare (hosting and the AI coach), Microsoft (Clarity), GitLab, Resend and Mailchimp. They handle your data to provide their service to us. Some of them process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. We do not sell your data.

How long we keep it

  • Your sign-in account: until you ask us to delete it.
  • Your progress: in your Google Drive until you delete it, and in your browser until you clear it.
  • Question reports and their emails: until you ask us to delete them.
  • AI coach answers: Cloudflare keeps answers for 7 days for typed questions and 30 days for the suggested questions, so the same question is answered faster. Your chat stays in your browser for 30 days.
  • The scrambled copy of your IP address for the AI coach limit: up to 1 hour.
  • Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • correct it if it is wrong
  • delete it
  • stop or limit how we use it
  • send it to you, or to another service, in a common format

Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
